Asia and Oceania Regional Hub delegates join UNISERVITATE’s 3rd Global Symposium

UNISERVITATE’s 3rd Global Symposium was held from October 28 to 29, 2022 at LUMSA University, Rome, Italy with this year’s theme “Service – Learning and Global Compact on Education: Educating for Fraternity in Higher Education.” Key personalities like Francesco Bonini, Rector of LUMSA, Maria Rosa Tapia, Uniservitate Coordinator, and many others welcomed the participants to this event.

Ten delegates represented the Asia and Oceania regional hub headed by its coordinator from De La Salle University, Ms. Marietta Guanzon, and Ms. Fritzie Ian De Vera, the school’s Vice President for Lasallian Mission. Ms. De Vera served as one of the speakers on the Panel: A Christian, interreligious and humanist spirituality for service-learning where she talked about Lasallian Spirituality.

During the concurrent sessions, representatives from Asia hub-supported institutions presented the winning projects recognized in the Uniservitate Awards 2022. Fr. Shaji Joseph, SDB of Assam Don Bosco University shared their safe drinking water project. Celiza Sim and Michelle Raven Landicho of the College of Saint Benilde presented their interior design project for the blind and the visually impaired.

Katie Rawet and Eilish Flagg from the Australian Catholic University shared about their education project in the Solomon Islands. Dr. Matthew Pink (Australian Catholic University) shared his reflections on technology and integral ecology. And, Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC, General Councilor for Pacific Asia,  discussed the topic of Fraternity and Cooperation.

The 3rd Global Symposium culminated with a panel discussion on the ‘Voices of the Youth’ through the presentation of Uniservitate Award-winning experiences of the students.

UNISERVITATE is a global program that aims to promote the institutionalization of service-learning in Catholic Higher Education. De La Salle University serves as UNISERVITATE’s Hub for Asia and Oceania.
