OVERVIEW

In line with the mission of De La Salle University as a leading learner-centered and research university; and with the stature of the College of Liberal Arts as a center of excellence for teaching and research in the humanities and the social sciences, the Behavioral Sciences Department (BSD) promotes academic excellence, quality research and scholarship, individual integrity, collegiality and social responsibility. Overall, BSD’s work is geared towards a sustainable Earth and is carried out in the service of church and society, including the poor and the marginalized.

BSD aims to produce professionals who are able to critically comprehend, integrate, and apply the perspectives and skills of Sociology, Anthropology and Health Social Science in the development of human resources and in the management of change in organizations, communities and institutions.

UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS

AB-OSDM

The program provides a comprehensive understanding of human behaviors in various social groups, business and development organizations

AB-SOC

AB-SPM, which is an interdisciplinary program, provides students with both academic and practical social sciences-based training in sports.

AB-SPM

MBHSL-OSSD

This program focuses on understanding a variety of complex human behaviors in the contexts of social groups, business and development organizations

MAHESOS

The program aims to impart to students a holistic understanding of the cultural and social dimensions of health research and program design, implementation and evaluation

NTMSOCI

The course provides students with a research-based understanding of the dynamics and complexities of social changes within the context of local and global forces.

MABESC

The program emphasizes the practical applications of behavioral sciences in planning for sustainable development that addresses gender, and organizational and environmental changes and challenges.

PHDSOC

PHDSOC aims to produce professionals who are able to critically comprehend, integrate, and apply the Sociological perspectives.

FACULTY

The Department draws its expertise from 10 full-time and 8 part-time faculty members, all of whom have had a number of research projects and publications, and experience in development work.

THE BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES SOCIETY (BSS)

This organization serves as the official organization of the Behavioral Sciences degree programs (AB-OSDM & AB-SPM). It is committed in implementing academic, socio-civic, and developmental activities that benefit the Behavioral Sciences community. It envisions a student organization that initiates, organizes, and leads projects that employ perspectives found in Behavioral Sciences courses such as social research, organization development, human resource management, and program development.
