Talim Bay Coastal Resource Management
The Talim Bay Coastal Resource Management Project aims to help the fisherfolk of Talim Bay, Lian, Batangas in conserving, protecting and sustainably utilizing their natural resources. This is accomplished through the formation of local structures, environmental awareness activities, research, supplemental livelihood initiatives and institutionalization of management options.
To compensate for revenues lost as a result of the conservation program, fisherfolk are now trained to become local tourist guides. They are now equipped with knowledge and skills on basic water safety, environmental awareness, climate change and water rescue. They usher visitors to marvel at the beauty of their marine ecosystem and provide testimony to the success and sustainability of community-based coastal resource management efforts.
