Course Description for the Program
The course offerings are divided into major courses and minor courses. The main difference between BS IE-IT and BS IE-SM only exists in the minor courses:
Major Course Description
All major courses under the BS IE-SM program are the same courses taken up by the BS IE student except for the electives.
SERVOPM Service Operations Management
3 units
The course introduces the students to the activities involved in the design and management of service systems. The impact and importance of services on a nation’s economy is emphasized. Similarities and differences between traditional manufacturing management and service management techniques are tackled. Moreover, concepts and tools in measuring productivity of similar service operations and achieving service quality are discussed.

LBYIE3I Service Operations Management Applications
2 units
The course deals with the application of fundamental service operations management concepts and tools in the delivery of efficient and quality services across different service industries namely Retail, Health Care, Banking and Financial Services, and Restaurant Services. These concepts include service process design, service process and customer journey mapping, customer needs analysis, performance monitoring and evaluation, service quality management, service recovery techniques, service process improvement, revenue management, etc.

SRSTSYS Restaurant Systems and Services

The course introduces the students to the activities involved in the operation and management of organizations in food service industry, and the different applications of industrial engineering in this industry.

2 units
The course focuses on the operations of banking and its related problems. This course will also discuss trends and challenges in the industry.

The course introduces the students to the activities involved in the operation and management of organizations in food service industry, and the different applications of industrial engineering in this industry.

SHELCAR Healthcare Systems and Services
2 units
The course primarily focuses on introduction of health care systems and services. The different problems involved in health care services will be tackled. In addition, different techniques related to planning of resources, service improvement, controlling of health care systems. Likewise, this course will also discuss trends and challenges in the health care industry.
