COSCA Relief Bulletin No. 3 (1 September 2014)

DLSU provided emergency relief items for 1,112 families affected by the recent typhoon Glenda. 631 families were from the National Capital Region while 481 families were from Lian, Batangas and Mulanay, Quezon. This effort was made possible through the collaboration of eight peoples’ organizations, several local government units, the Gokongwei College of Engineering and the Procurement office.
COSCA representatives also formally met the Municipal Administrator from Concepcion, Iloilo and teachers from the Polopina Elementary School last Aug 18 to 20, 2014 to reiterate the technical assistance to be extended by DLSU to areas affected by typhoon Yolanda. Initial discussions focused on continued provision of school supplies to the students of PES and possible mangrove forest restoration activities in the island.
GCOE faculty members and students from LEGACY are now preparing for a series of community learning sessions to be given to the local residents from brgy San Miguel, municipality of Dulag in Leyte as part of DLSU’s commitment to the Post Yolanda One Lasalle Rehabilitation Plan for selected sites. This is tentatively scheduled on the 2nd week of September 2014.
Ms. July Nery, COSCA Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Specialist and Ms. Isabel Lanada, COSCA NSTP-CWTS Coordinator have been tapped by the Social Action Office of De La Salle Zobel to conduct a training on DRRM in Guian, Eastern Samar. This is also part of their commitment to the One Lasalle Rehabilitation Plan.

They will place a note on your Official Receipt that your donation is for the Relief Fund. You are to be given a white and green official receipt as proof of your donation. Please provide the green copy to Ms. Vivian Corilla, LMO Secretary, to acknowledge your donation. For those donating in check, please make it payable to DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY.
