cordially invite you to a short course entitled
“Affective Computing and Multimodal Interactions”
to be given by
Dr. Radoslaw Niewiadomski
InfoMus Lab
University of Genoa, Italy
on February 20 – 23, 2018 (Tuesday to Friday)
0900 – 1200 at
Rm 903, Bro. Andrew Gonzalez Hall
Abstract. The constantly growing use of technologies such as mobile and wearable devices, Internet-of-Things (IoT), or robotics make creation of emotion-aware human-machine interaction one of the emergent disciplines. Still, technology is often blind to the human specific communicative attitudes and expectations such as emotion communication. Therefore, affective computing bridges the gap between purely technological applications and the needs and behaviors of human users. The aim of the course is to introduce the basic aspects of affective computing and multimodal interaction. The topics will include the introduction to various theories of human emotions, techniques for recognizing and synthesizing emotional behavior, their applications as well as creation of affect-aware multimodal interaction. Last but not least, basic notions of the positive computing will be discussed.
Bio. Dr. Radoslaw Niewiadomski is researcher at the InfoMus Lab, University of Genoa since June 2013. There, I am working in the H2020 ICT DANCE Project dedicated to the analysis and sonification of the expressive movement qualities in dance performances. I worked in the FP7 FET ILHAIRE Project, which aimed at the analysis and synthesis of multimodal laughter to increase the quality of human-machine interaction. His research interests are in the area of affective computing, and include embodied conversational agents, detection and synthesis of emotions, interactive multimodal systems, automatic analysis of social behaviour, and evaluation of affective interaction.
