This course critically engages the students to a survey of the different trends in biblical studies. It will familiarize the students with the basic concepts, issues, and methods of biblical exegesis through actual exercises in biblical interpretation.
History of Christian Spirituality – REV605MN – 3 units
This course will present a history of the various kinds of Christian Spirituality developments from the time of Jesus Christ to the present. A formative approach will be used in this course through examining various traditions, disciplines, and practices in the context of their historical development and contemporary expressions. It also includes the relationship of spirituality to theology, religious education, and spiritual formation.

Techniques of Formative Counseling and Spiritual Accompaniment – APT604M – 3 units
Formators learn various techniques in formative counseling and spiritual accompaniment. It seeks to help develop the qualities and skills of an effective co-journey-er and spiritual accompany-er.
Assessment/Testing Tools in Formative Counseling and Spiritual Accompaniment
APT606M – 3 units
Formative study of the different assessment tools, including standardized tests in formative counseling and spiritual accompaniment. It equips formators with skills to select, administer, score, interpret, and evaluate the formands for better accompaniment.
Philosophical & Psychological Foundations of Guidance, Formative Counseling and Spiritual Accompaniment – APT610M – 3 units
Formators understand the schools of philosophy, psychology, sociology, and spirituality in the practice of formative guidance & counseling and spiritual accompaniment.
Formative Group Process and Counseling – APT612M – 3 units
Formators understand the different kinds of groups, their purpose, development, dynamics, and learn to facilitate a group formative process and counseling. This exposes them to various theories to become effective formative group facilitators and counselors.
Organization, Administration and Supervision of Guidance & Counseling Services, and Program Development – APT607M – 3 units
Formators learn to organize, administer and supervise a specific guidance and counselling services and do program development for the counselees and directees.
Personality Theories and Abnormal Psychology – APT623M – 3 units
Formators study the different personality theories of wellness as well as the characteristics of the different psychopathologies. Formators learn to make concrete plans for better accompaniment.

Formative Career Development and Counseling – APT608M – 3 units
Formators learn the different career theories and their application in formative decision-making and discernment.
Practicum
Formative Counseling and Spiritual Accompaniment Practicum – APT914M – 3 units
Formators accomplish a supervised practicum in formative counseling and spiritual accompaniment.
Non-Course requirement before the Oral Comprehensive Exam:
- At least five (5) sessions of personal-individual counseling (approximately one hour each) from a reputable counseling center.
- At least five (5) sessions of personal spiritual accompaniment.
