International Week Celebration

October 19-24, 2015

In line with the celebration of United Nations Day in October, the External Relations and Internationalization Office (ERIO) organizes the International Week celebration in coordination with selected student organizations on campus. The celebration of the International Week is designed to provide an opportunity for students and members of the DLSU community to get involved with the different activities that are lined up based on the theme of the United Nations Day celebration. The event hopes to encourage more Lasallians to be more conscious of the goals of this intergovernmental organization geared toward the promotion of human rights, social progress and world peace.


ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum

 

The ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum (AYCF) is organized yearly in partnership with its member institutions. It is aimed at enhancing and strengthening friendship and cooperation, grounded in the deep understanding of their countries’ cultures. The forum provides a rich venue for the appreciation of the deversity and commonalities in the ASEAN cultures through worthwhile dialogues of artistic experience and expressions.

This year, De La Salle University is hosting the “13th ASEAN and 3rd ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum” with the theme: “ASEAN AS ONE: Framing the Face of ASEAN to our Youth through Culture and the Arts”.

 


Everyone is invited to be part of the Opening Ceremonies. Please join us in welcoming our ASEAN guests!

IC Buddy Recruitment

 

What is the IC Buddy Program?

The IC BUDDY PROGRAM is the Student Volunteer Program of the ERIO and is managed by the International Center. Its general goal is to provide an opportunity for Filipinos and international students, who appreciate cultural diversity and demonstrate understanding of the University’s thrust for internationalization, to get involved in one of the student volunteer programs in the University.

Specifically, the Program aims to:

  1. Recruit and train student volunteers – either Filipinos or international students, who can effectively assist ERIO International Center and Center for Global Engagement in the implementation of its activities, programs and services;
  2. Provide trainings that are necessary to hone the skills of IC Buddies in the performance of their functions as members of the Program; and
  3. Strengthen IC Buddies’ Lasallian values of Faith in God, Zeal for Service, and Communion in Mission, by anchoring their training and formation building activities within the Lasallian Formation and Action Framework – integrating leadership skills,
    Lasallian Spirituality, and Community Engagement in their student volunteer experience.

 

Are you IC Buddy material?

The minimum qualifications to be considered in the selection of IC Buddies are based on the following:

  1. A GPA of at least 2.0 or better for the two pre-vious terms; and
  2. No major offense record (based on SDFO).

 

Can you handle it?

Requirements for selection of IC Buddies

  1. Willing to render official residency equivalent to 5.0 hours a week;
  2. Willing to keep membership in the IC Buddy Pro-gram for at least three (3) terms;
  3. Has remaining three (3) terms of academic residency;
  4. Willing to undergo training and formation while in the Program;
  5. Preferably though not necessarily, has participated in an Outbound Student Exchange Program of the University;
  6. Committed to volunteer service, Lasallian formation, and has a drive for excellence; and
  7. Values cultural diversity and has sincere inter-est in multicultural environment.

 

Pick your IC BUDDY Team!

  1. Events Team: Handles the logistical preparations of International Center’s pro-grams and activities on and off-campus.
  2. Operations Team: Assists in the overall operation and delivery of organizational and administrative functions of International Cen-ter.
  3. Programs and Networking: Designs and initiates programs and activities that are in line with the vision and mission of ERIO as well as with the general goals and objectives of International Center and Center for Global Engagement that promote the interests of international students.
  4. Publicity and Promotions: Handles the information dissemination of International Center’s programs, activities, and services.

 

My First Step in Manila

 

Once every trimester, the International Center organizes “My First Trip in Manila” to expose new international students and visiting professors to one of the most historical scenic spots in the Philippines – the Walled City of Intramuros.

Participants get to witness significant aspects of Philippine culture and experience our historical milieu while visiting the old picturesque San Agustin Church and Museum; an old kingdom of a Muslim chieftain which is now known as the historic Fort Bonifacio; Casa Manila, a replica of a mid-19th century house inspired by the magnificent lifestyle of Spanish aristocrats, and a lot more.

The International Coffee Hour is a regular event organized by the ERIO International Center
to gather both international students (IS) and Filipinos on campus. It is an opportunity for IS to interact with University administrators for a meet-and-greet! Each Coffee Hour gathering is celebrated with a cultural theme (Cambodian, French, Indonesian, American culture, and the like) to expose IS and Filipinos alike to the diversity of culture on campus. IS who are performing well academically are also recognized during the event.
