The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy program affords qualified students an excellent opportunity to acquaint themselves with the major ideas and development in philosophy. Eclectic and creative, the program provides a diverse curriculum in both Eastern and Western traditions. Graduates of this program should be able to create  and articulate scholarly and critical research that demonstrates careful consideration of different viewpoints; exhibit ethically-driven competencies and skills in philosophy, as applied to teaching or other related fields and professions, and demonstrate mastery of relevant philosophical concepts. Link

In partnership with the different departments from the Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business, prospective students may also opt to take double major programs wherein the AB in Philosophy is packaged with particular business degrees. These double major programs in philosophy and business are the following:

  • AB in Philosophy and BS in Marketing Management
  • AB in Philosophy and BS in Legal Management
  • AB in Philosophy and BS in Business Management
  • AB in Philosophy and BS in Management of Financial Institutions
  • AB in Philosophy and BS in Advertising Management
  • AB in Philosophy and BS in Accountancy
  • AB in Philosophy and BS in Applied Corporate Management

AB in Philosophy and BS in Marketing Management

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management double major program is handled by the Department of Philosophy and Marketing Management Department. The BS in Marketing Management program is “designed to develop students for entrepreneurial or corporate work in marketing management and for them to be trainable for higher responsibilities in the same firm. The students are taught the theories and concepts in the classroom, and then they are given training on the practical aspects of the various areas of marketing by exposure to actual work situations through assignments in organizations (either for profit or non-profit).”1 Link

AB in Philosophy and BS in Legal Management

Students of the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Bachelor of Science in Legal Management double major program, after completing all requirements, earn an undergraduate degree in philosophy and another that is more business-related, offered by the Commercial Law Department. The BS in Legal Management program is “a good preparation for the college of law and is, at the same time, intended to provide employment opportunities to the graduates.”2 Link

AB in Philosophy and BS in Business Management

After the completion of all the requirements for this double major program, students would earn the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Bachelor of Science in Applied Corporate Management. The BS in Business Management program “prepares young men and women to become competent managers and consultants with a mindset of management as a system of integrated and interrelated parts.”3 Link

AB in Philosophy and BS in Management of Financial Institutions

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Bachelor of Science in Management of Financial Institutions is a double degree program that enables students to major in the two different fields. Offered by the Financial Management Department, the BS in Management of Financial Institutions program was “launched in 1976 to answer the financial management needs of Philippine financial intermediaries and other Philippine businesses… the original program which seeks to develop graduates with excellent decision making, problem solving and analytical abilities remain basically unchanged, the present program aims to support the MFI vision in response to the formidable challenges of the financial services industry.”4 Link

AB in Philosophy and BS in Advertising Management

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Bachelor of Science in Advertising Management double major program enables students to graduate with both humanities- and business-related degrees. The BS in Advertising Management program is “designed for students who intend to pursue a professional career in the advertising-related industry here in the Philippines or in the Asia-Pacific region.”5 Link

AB in Philosophy and BS in Accountancy

This double major program combines the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, which is offered by the Accountancy Department. The BS in Accountancy program “prepares students for careers in accounting and related fields, and makes them ready to deal effectively with the problems they will face as professional accountants, researchers and responsible citizens.”6 Link

AB in Philosophy and BS in Applied Corporate Management

Completing all the requirements for this double major program would award students the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Bachelor of Science in Applied Corporate Management. The BS in Applied Corporate Management program, handled by the Management and Organization Department, is “patterned after the dual-tech program in Germany, [and it] features three alternate terms of actual experiential learning in the real world of work, and was meant to enable students to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values of world-class management.”7 Link
