Policy for Special Classes
Requests for special classes for courses beyond regular cycle. The Department of Communication upholds that the flowcharts need to be followed by Communication Arts and Organizational Communication majors and students must recognize that obtaining a failed grade for some courses may cause an unnecessary delay. Offering of special classes disrupts the regular programming of courses and can overload Faculty. Further, the liberal offering of special classes can have implications on the demand and offering of students’ succeeding classes. Thus, petitions for special classes for courses that are not within the regular cycle are to be granted only under all four special and rare conditions:
- The only remaining DLSU course of the students is the subject course prior to thesis. Upon successful completion of the special class, students’ remaining subjects must only be the following: THS1OCM/THS2OCM/PRCMOCM/ THSACAM/THSBCAM/PRCMCAM*
- The appropriate faculty member is available and willing to teach the special class (to be determined by the Department). The Faculty shall determine whether instruction can be effective given the size of the special class, and under no circumstance can be coerced to offer the special class.
- The request is filed before the start of a term.
- Additionally, no subsequent special class will be allowed for the same course if the students do not get a passing grade.
