The Offices of the Vice Principal for SHS and the Senior High School (SHS) Engagement would like to inform all Faculty Members with SHS teaching load this AY 2022-2023 Term 3 of the following Term-start Reminders.

  1.  Term 3 starts on 08 May 2023 (Monday)
    •  Term 3 will span for 13 weeks.
    •   Final Assessment Days are scheduled on 02-03 August (Wednesday – Thursday).
    •    Grades encoding is on 07 August (Monday) while Grades Consultation Day is on 08 August (Tuesday).

  1.   Activities and Events
    • SHS Research Congress: June 27-28, 2023 (Tuesday and Wednesday)
      .
      Please plan in advance for possible disruption of regular class sessions as students may be asked to participate in the congress.
    • IndependentLearningWeek: 9th week from July 3 to 8, 2023
      .
      Class activities are limited to asynchronous ones, and there shall be no submission due dates, no summative exams, and no synchronous (online or face-to-face) classes during this week.
  1.   Unless otherwise indicated, SHS Classesare predominantly delivered as BlendFlex or Type B mode
    •    Publish your AnimoSpace courses before May 8, 2023. All learning resources should be made available in AnimoSpace. This will allow students to browse the course and review the learning materials in advance.
    • For every 3-unit lecture class for faculty, there is an equivalent  5.0 hours per week student workload subdivided as follows:
      • 1.5-3.0 hours synchronous classes composed of
        • 1.5 hours in-person classes
        • 1.5 hours online synchronous classes
      • 2.0-3.5 hours asynchronous activities, which include self-study, group work, and review for exams
        .
        We enjoin our faculty members to maximize the weekly in-person classes to deliver learning activities that promote strong interaction and engagement, monitor student progress, and address student concerns and misconceptions.
    • STEM and SPT students attend in-person classes from Mondays to Wednesdays. ADT, ABM and HUMSS students attend in-person classes from Wednesdays to Fridays.
    • There are no Saturday classes for SHS.
  1.  Workload and Requirements

Major requirements with full specification must be announced at least a month before the due date while minor requirements must be communicated at least a week. Submission deadlines should not be set during:

Club time from Wednesday 10:30 am to 7:30 am on Thursday

Weekends from 5:00 pm on Friday to 7:30 am on Monday

  1.   Faculty Attendance. In case a faculty member cannot meet your face-to-face class due to sickness, family emergency, or official business for a given day,
    •   Please seek the approval of your Department Chair to shift the class to online or to schedule a face-to-face make-up class.
    •   Email a copy of your Chair approval to the SHS (Strand) Department Chair and the Director for SHS Engagements.

    • Please verify the correctness of the sections assigned to you.
    • Should there be discrepancies, kindly inform your Department Chair, who will then inform the SHS Office. This is to ensure that all our official records are kept consistent and accurate.

  1. Student Performance Consultation 
    • Faculty members should inform students about their midterm class standing on Week 9, 3 to 7 July 2023.
    • Academic Slips can be issued to the students. Class Advisers can assist you in communicating this to the parents.  A separate list of Class Advisers will be provided.
  1. Co-Curricular Activities 

The holistic formation of our SHS students continues through the different activities that will be organized by the Student Affairs Office. Club time will still be every Wednesday from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm in Manila and 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in Laguna. Club activities will be delivered in-person. No synchronous academic classes and consultations as well as submission deadlines should be set on Wednesdays after 10:30am to give time for students to engage in co-curricular activities.

Please refer to the DLSU Health and Safety Guide for Campus Operations. It contains the protocols on health and safety, campus entry, eating/movement/behavior on campus, case control protocols, among others.
