“The View from Taft” column started sometime in the 1980s when Raul Locsin, then owner of Business World, agreed to a proposal for faculty members of business teaching at De La Salle University to contribute to the weekly column featured in the periodical. This collection, The View from Taft, brings together some of the most significant articles published under that column title between 2008 and 2013. It offers the readers a rich gallery of discussions and interventions occasioned by the academic members of the Lasallian institution. The book covers various themes: education or the mission of a university; multistream management; ethics; dilemmas that human resource managers face (e.g., outsourcing, salary determination, workplace bullying, lay-offs, and working in a global environment); marketing; business technology; persistent social problems; the call for good governance on various levels; and the Aquino administration as a socio-politico-economic case for reflection, discussion, and re-vision.
MA. C. P. ASSUMPTA C. MARASIGAN is Assistant Professor at De La Salle University. She teaches business communication and Lasallian business leadership, ethics, and corporate social responsibility at the Ramon V. Del Rosario College of Business.
