From the title itself, The Secret of Living Up to 96: The Joy of Taking Care of Dad, the book is keen on sharing. It is meant to chronicle and share anecdotes on my father on what I consider were “secrets” of his longevity. As I related these anecdotes, I began to reflect on my relationship with him. I also want to share this aspect because it gave meaning and joy to my life. On a more mundane level, I also want to share his recipes, his humor, his daily routine, his baño de San Francisco, his dietary and health practices, his practical ways, his hobbies, and many more. I have to accept that these are superficial. But they have significantly contributed to his long life, positive attitude, and healthy constitutions. (From the Author’s Introduction)
