Seasons in Parenting presents studies on the achievements of parents and their life stories. There are three studies about parenting and parents found in this book. The parents belonged to different adult life stages: the young, the middle aged, and those in advanced age. The older fathers and mothers were those already in their “second season” of parenting while the young and middle-aged parents were in their first season. From the first two studies, the parents’ life narratives were produced and interpreted qualitatively. The themes created from the stories they shared about their parenting experiences provided for the more meaningful discussions on their roles and responsibilities in keeping their own kin. In the third study, the data that were sourced through the survey forms yielded empirical evidence on the significant tasks of fathers and mothers in embracing parenthood. In the synthesis part of the book, indigenous conceptions on the “family” such as anak, magulang, mag-anak were used in discussing Filipino treasured traditions in raising and rearing children that remain relevant to parents living in high modernity.
