SOCIAL SCIENCE
Health and Social Policy Issues of BPO Workers in the Philippines focuses on the level of happiness at work of selected employees of business process outsourcing (BPO) companies—what are significant factors to consider in relation to it and what is its impact on BPO companies, among others. Using the survey and focus group discussion methods, the researchers identified the important factors that affect the happiness of BPO employees—such as number of hours of uninterrupted sleep and financial benefits—and, consequently, their likelihood of leaving or staying in their current company, which in turn affects the rate of employee turnovers for BPO companies. Given their findings, the researchers provide policy recommendations to BPO companies, the Philippine government, and other relevant sectors of society to help address the issue of BPO workers’ level of happiness at work.
