In line with its purpose of promoting stewardship, accountability, integrity, efficiency, and compliance, De La Salle University (DLSU) established the Compliance Office to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, internal rules, policies, procedures, and other binding rules of agreement. The Compliance Office was created on June 2008 (formally launched on September 28, 2009) in response to the institutionalization of internal audit functions to De La Salle Philippines (DLSP).
In a review of the current governance and corporate oversight structure of DLSU, it was noted that there were some important audit functions which are not currently handled by DLSP’s Internal Audit Services. In view of this and the growing importance of managing risk (both financial and operational) in the University, it was proposed that a Risk Management, Compliance, and Audit Office under the President be established in 2010.
The mandate of the RMCA Office is to provide direction, guidance and resource references to DLSU stakeholders on how to optimize resources and fulfill their responsibilities that is compliant with laws and regulations, internal rules, policies, procedures, and other binding rules of agreement and in which the public trust is maintained. Combination of audit and compliance is based on synergies and linkages similar to foreign universities.
