THE AB LITERATURE PROGRAM

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The study of Literature, one of the pillars of the Humanities, sharpens critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. It enhances the ability to think out of the box and analyze data from multiple perspectives to arrive at innovative solutions.

The Literature program provides students adequate training in literary and cultural scholarship, creative writing, and writing across the professions. The literary and cultural studies (LC) track trains the students in critical inquiry on various cultural texts and practices as they reflect contemporary local and global conditions. The creative writing (CW) track develops the skills of students who are committed to honing their craft through training in various genres and rigorous workshops.

The literature program therefore optimizes the students’ critical thinking and creative writing skills as a way to deepen their engagement with current issues and questions about aesthetics, heritage, identity, and globalization that beset contemporary industries. Literature provides a solid foundation for cognitive and empathic competence across a wide range of fields, from communication to marketing, the law to international relations, or management to governance, and beyond.
