University Fellow leads webinar on sustainable consumption and production
ADVOCATING SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION, GOKONGWEI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING PROFESSORS led by a University Fellow joined a series of webinars for the 15th Asia Pacific Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production.
University Fellow Professor Dr. Anthony SF Chiu of the Industrial Engineering Department, together with Full Professor Dr. Kathleen Aviso of the Chemical Engineering Department, and Mechanical Engineering Department Vice Chair Dr. Neil Stephen Lopez, co-organized the four webisodes, which were held every Tuesday from April 20 to May 11.
Chiu also served as the roundtable chair of the first webinar and moderated the discussion on the theme “Green Recovery and Beyond in the Asia Pacific through SCP”.
United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA5) Vice President Laksmi Dhewanthi, in her keynote address, stressed the importance of SCP (SDG12) in the global roadmap amid the pandemic. SCP updates were presented by the directors of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, United Nations Environment Programme, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, EU SWITCH Asia, and GIZ.
Seven world SCP experts representing the Future Earth, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, United Nations Centre for Regional Development, Global Environment Outlook, Economic Research Centre for ASEAN and East Asia, and Bhutan delivered their short intervention.
