Rescheduling of Online Consultative Meetings on: (1) the Draft Revised DLSU Intellectual Property Policies, and (2) the Draft DLSU Knowledge & Technology Transfer Policy
Due to the low number of registrants, the DLSU Intellectual Property Office (DIPO) and the DLSU Innovation and Technology Office (DITO) are rescheduling the online consultative meetings on the DLSU Intellectual Property Policies and the DLSU Knowledge and Technology Transfer Policy. The new schedules are below:
- Draft Revised DLSU Intellectual Property (IP) Policies, 15 January 2021 (Friday), 9:00AM to 12:00PM
- Draft DLSU Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT) Policy, 15 January 2021 (Friday), 1:30PM to 4:30PM

About the DLSU Intellectual Property (IP) Policies: DLSU is committed to nurturing an environment supportive of innovation and creativity by promoting awareness and respect for IP rights and by providing mechanisms for assisting members of the academic community in the protection of their IP. Further, DLSU understands that a well-designed scheme for protecting IP rights and managing IP is an invaluable tool in introducing new products, processes and services into society that will stimulate transformation. The DLSU IP Policies serve as the basic framework for the treatment of IP Rights. It provides structures and procedures to manage the University’s intellectual assets, and includes provisions on the ownership, disclosure, protection, and utilization of IP.
About the DLSU Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT) Policy: University Knowledge and Technology Transfer is the process by which academic research outputs, technologies, creative works, skills and knowledge are translated into products and services that benefit society. The enactment of the Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009 (RA 10055, 2009), the Innovative Startup Act (RA 11337, 2019), and the Philippine Innovation Act (RA 11293, 2019), has encouraged Philippine universities and Research and Development Institutions to directly participate in the innovation ecosystem through university knowledge and technology transfer. The DLSU KTT Policy provides a process for transferring knowledge and technology from the University to society through different modes of commercialization (e.g. sale, licensing, or the creation of new ventures) in order to deliver socioeconomic impact, while remaining consistent with the mission-vision of the University. It provides structures and procedures to manage relationships among researchers, the University, and third parties to ensure that their respective interests are protected. It also provides mechanisms to ensure compliance with relevant laws, and to manage risks and potential conflicts of interest. The DLSU KTT Policy supports the DLSU IP Policies, which are to be taken and interpreted together with the DLSU KTT Policy.
The DIPO and DITO started revising the DLSU IP Policies and conceptualizing the DLSU KTT Policy in early 2018. Completion of the draft policies was accelerated by the DOST-PCIEERD-funded DLSU IMPACT Project, which the DIPO and DITO implemented in 2019 and completed shortly after mid-2020. The DIPO and DITO envision that these policies will enhance the University’s ability to manage its intellectual assets and deliver socioeconomic impact through university knowledge and technology transfer.
