Events and Activities

    • I. Cadet Activities
      • A. Training Days
        Classroom lectures and field exercises are the bulk of the training and are conducted both within the premises of the university and Fort Bonifacio. These are comprised of theoretical lectures in campus classrooms aided by various instructional media, succeeded by practical application on field. Field trainings, and actual drills such as marching, rifle drills, ceremonies, and exercises are done in the 5th and 6th floor of Enrique M. Razon Sports Center and on the parading grounds of Marine Barracks Rudiardo Brown in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City

 

      • B. Camp Visit
        The 247th NROTCU, DLSU-M offers one training day providing the cadets a chance to catch a glimpse of what is life inside a naval camp. This enables the cadets to widen their perspective of everything that they have learned in ROTC, as their participation in this activity serves as their Final Examination for the first trimester of their NSTP – the Military Science 1 (MS-1). They are toured around the vicinity of the camp, then afterwards board a naval vessel and fire an M16 rifle.

 

        • M16 Familiarization Firing
          Here, all cadets get the chance to hold and fire a real M-16 rifle with live ammunition. But of course, prior to this, the cadets will have to undergo a dry firing session on a previous training day to prepare them for the actual thing. Their performance in this activity contributes to the outcome of their final grade in MS-1.

 

        • Shipboarding
          Not everyone gets a chance to board a naval vessel, particularly a typical college student, except if he/she is a DLSU Naval ROTC cadet. In this activity, cadets are toured inside battlesips used by the Philippine Navy (PN), enter their engineering chambers and ride their manually operated guns and artillery.

 

      • C. Hell Day
        The Hell Day is a timeless tradition of the 247th NROTCU, DLSU-M wherein all cadets undergo a sequence of rigorous exercises for a given span of time.
        The purpose of this activity is for the cadets to finally be recognized as full-fledged members of the 247th NROTCU, DLSU-M and their respective Special Support Units (SSU).

 

      • D. Annual General Tactical Inspection (AGTI)
        • Local Annual General Tactical Inspection (LAGTI)
          The LAGTI is an annual inspection of all Naval ROTC Units within the National Capital Region (NCR) under the Naval Reserve Center (NRCen) NCR, of their tactical military proficiency as training institutions for capable reservists of the country in the form of competition where its events consist of the specializations of different Special Support Units (SSU). The Naval ROTC Unit declared champion in the LAGTI will be the one to represent the NCR in the following National Annual General Tactical Inspection (NAGTI).

 

        • National Annual General Tactical Inspection (NAGTI)
          The NAGTI’s events are similar to the LAGTI, however, the Naval ROTC Units that compete here consists of representative schools from eight (8) regions/Naval Reserve Centers (NRCen) nationwide who won the championship in their respective LAGTIs. The Naval ROTC Unit declared champion in this event will also be declared the Naval ROTC Unit of the Year.

 

      • E. AFP ROTC Challenge
        The AFP ROTC Challenge is an event organized by the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Reserve Force Development (J9) of the AFP wherein school representatives from the three (3) main branches of service of the AFP namely the Army, Navy and Air Force, compete in different events, similar with the AGTI or any that the Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Reserve Force Development may organize. As part of the Navy contingent, the 247th NROTCU, DLSU-M often serves as one of the school representatives who are brought to the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the AFP at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City to challenge other schools from other branches of service in this competition.

 

      • F. ROTC Graduation
        Cadets who have successfully completed the Basic ROTC module from Military Science 1 (MS-1) to Military Science 2 (MS-2) are entitled to graduate from their NSTP. The ROTC graduation serves as all cadets’ last training day, which is also the day they are enlisted as full-fledged reservists of the AFP. Here, cadets also receive individual awards that appreciate their efforts in terms of leadership, proficiency and more during their whole stay in ROTC.

 

  • II. Unit Activities
    • A. NSTP Orientation
      The enrollment of students who will undergo the National Service Training Program (NSTP) begins after their NSTP Orientation during the first trimester of the school year. The orientation dwells in the introduction of the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), Literacy Training Service (LTS) and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programs, for the students to be briefed with the NSTP component of their choice. After which, the students will then enrol their desired NSTP component on the same day.
    • B. Civil Military Operations (CMO)
      CMOs are outreach activities conducted by the unit in order to fulfil the Naval Reserve Command’s (NAVRESCOM) mission, which is to assist in the socio-economic development of the country. No monetary transactions involving the cadets are dealt in conducting CMOs – it is the unit who shoulders all expenses and arrangements necessary to make the activity possible. The cadets’ attendance during CMOs is not mandatory, but those who volunteer to participate are given merits. With this, cadets who have acquired two (2) or more absences are encouraged to volunteer to compensate for their absences.The kinds of CMOs conducted by the unit are:

      • Disaster Response/Relief Operations
      • Blood Donation Drives
      • House Construction
      • Tree Planting
      • Gift Giving/Feeding Programs
      • Educational Tutorial Programs
      • Awareness Talks/Seminars

 

    • C. Reservist Awareness Week
      The Reservist Awareness Week is an annual week-long event of the whole ROTC community held in campus. This activity aims to raise the awareness of the whole Lasallian community with the essence of ROTC and its purpose as part of the reserve force of the AFP. Here, the unit conducts activities open for the ROTC community and the whole Lasallian community for one whole week.The usual events conducted by the unit during the Reservist Awareness Week are:

      • Offertory Mass
      • Booth Set-up
      • Blood Donation Drive
      • Drum and Bugle Presentation
      • Silent Drill Presentation
      • Static Display
      • Open House
      • Awareness Talk
      • Civil Military Operation (CMO)
      • Sportsfest
      • Frolics

 

    • D. Lasallian Enrichment Alternative Program (LEAP)
      The Lasallian Enrichment Alternative Program or “LEAP” is a one (1) day alternative class program by the DLSU for all students. Here, each school organization offers modified classes that can be either academic or non-academic. In being a school organization, the 247th NROTCU, DLSU-M participates in this program, thus provides classes related to the ROTC program for all Lasallian students such as the following:

      • E. Standard First Aid & Basic Life Support
        This class is conducted by the Medics Unit representatives of the 247th NROTCU, DLSU-M wherein the cadet officers and cadets themselves share with Lasallians their skills and proficiency in Standard First Aid & Basic Life Support.
      • F. Pekiti Tirsia Kali (PTK)
        The Pekiti Tirsia Kali (PTK) is a Filipino martial art that has been officially adopted by the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) that involves movements using knives, bolos and other Filipino inspired weapons.

 

 

    • G. Turnover Ceremony
      A passing down of tradition, prestige, and responsibility. The Turnover Ceremony is a momentous event where a new Corps Commander assumes his/her title on the very grounds his/her leadership was rectified. This event is usually conducted along with the ROTC Graduation annually.
    • H. Military Science 3
      The Military Science 3 (MS-3) is a summer boot camp training for advance ROTC cadets belonging under a same Naval Reserve Center (NRCen). It is held for a period of forty-five 45 days inside a Naval Reserve Command (NAVRESCOM) enclave, where the candidates are trained to become proficient leaders of their respective Naval ROTC Units.
      • Field Training Exercise (FTX)
        The FTX serves as the culminating activity of the MS-3 where the cadets apply their learnings during the whole course on field. The activities conducted during this exercise consist of a series of simulated tactical operations similar to actual military operations, including another round of M16 Familiarization Firing.
