YEA! Global Summit 2022

We are delighted to welcome you to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Youth and Education Alliance – YEA! Global Summit.

Taking place on 5th July 2022, this virtual Global Summit will bring together YEA! partners and the wider higher education community to provide an opportunity for universities and colleges around the world to learn more about YEA!, to get involved in a variety of initiatives to support climate action on campus, and to hear from higher education practitioners, youth and government representatives. The YEA! Global Summit is a partnership between UNEPEAUC and Tongji University.

What else is new?


Take part in UNEP’s survey on the right to a healthy environment of children, youth, and future generations


In June 2021, the Heads of United Nations Entities released a joint commitment promoting the right to a healthy environment of children, youth, and future generations. You can read it here. We call on you to take part in UNEP’s online survey to help inform and support the organization in identifying gaps and establishing plans for implementing the joint commitment and further integrating the right to a healthy environment of children, youth, and future generations in its work. You can read more about this initiative here.

All colleagues and stakeholders, including children and youth, are invited to provide their input through the links below by 15 July 2022.


Online Course: From Data to Tangible Impact – Achieving Waste SDGs by 2030


This online course, developed by UN-HABITAT, will introduce you to the first steps of developing MSWM (Municipal Solid Waste Management) strategies and action plans, in a participatory and inclusive manner by utilising data collected through the Waste Wise Cities Tool (WaCT), which is a quick municipal solid waste management assessment methodology based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The course is intended for all solid waste professionals, city officials involved in municipal solid waste management, and anyone interested in guidance on how to achieve waste related SDGs.

Start: Self-paced course
Duration: 6 modules, between 1-2 hours per module
Fees: None
Certificate: Yes, after completing and passing the final test

You can also check out this Waste Wise Cities Tool (WACT), developed by UN-HABITAT, which is a rapid assessment methodology tool used to evaluate and monitor a city’s municipal solid waste management (MSW) system.


Online Course: Carbon Literacy and Climate Action


Check out this new Carbon Literacy and Climate Action course. The course is accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project and aimed at researchers, staff, and students working in academic institutions. During the course, each participant will develop their own action plan to reduce carbon emissions in their professional sphere of influence. Action plans are evaluated by the Carbon Literacy Project and participants can earn a certificate of ‘carbon literacy’.

The EventBrite course is open to any individual who would like to participate.
