Your highly valuable feedback will be included in a new paper commissioned by the UN Environment Programme and produced by nonprofit @lonelywhale.org. Sign up for the Nature Positive Universities Initiative


 

UNEP and the University of Oxford are launching a global network of Nature Positive Universities in order to prompt the prioritization of nature and its restoration within the higher education sector; in their operations and supply chains, on campuses and within the cities where they operate.

Over 400 expressions of interest from universities around the world have been submitted so far. Please complete this form if you are interested in joining this network!

UNEA Resolution on Nature Based Solutions


 

new UNEA-5 resolution defines Nature Based Solutions as  ‘actions to protect, conserve, restore, sustainably use and manage natural or modified terrestrial, freshwater, coastal and marine ecosystems, which address social, economic and environmental challenges effectively and adaptively, while simultaneously providing human well-being, ecosystem services and resilience and biodiversity benefits.’

In addition to 13 other UNEA-5 resolutions passed in support of nature and the SDGs, this resolutions lays out important ground work for the advancement of nature based solutions in the restoration of nature.

Youth Collaborating with Educational Leaders on Climate Education


Are you interested in more effective climate education? Join youth and education leaders from around the world in a virtual roundtable on climate education in higher education, as part of the UNESCO World Higher Education Conference (WHEC).

The aim is to strengthen collaboration among youth, higher education leaders and decision-makers to embed climate education in higher education institutions.

Youth leaders will present their manifesto for climate education, endorsed by multiple international youth organisations, and stories of successful collaboration with policymakers. This will be followed by reactions from national commissions and a discussion on ways to strengthen collaboration around the demands of youth.

Announcing the 2022 International Green Gown Award Finalists


EAUC is delighted to reveal the finalists of the 2022 International Green Gown Awards, in association with Allianz Global Investors – with 56 Finalists from 19 countries from across the world.

IAU Global Survey on Higher Education and Research for Sustainable Development (HESD)


The International Association of Universities (IAU) has launched its 3rd iteration of the IAU Global Survey on Higher Education and Research for Sustainable Development (HESD) 2022 – Accelerating Action for the SDGs.

The survey uses the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs as a framework to foster better understanding of how higher education institutions engage with sustainable development (SD), how they work, who is working on this at the institutional level and which SDGs are the main focus. Furthermore, the outcomes of the survey will be useful for higher education institutions engaging or wishing to engage with sustainable development; and to advocate for the significant role of higher education in implementing the 2030 Agenda at the UN level and to national governments.

2022 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability

This annual flagship conference, aimed at sharing young peoples’ ideas and practices on sustainable development, has become a global event for future leaders, and one of the most influential youth gatherings on sustainable development.

The 2022 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability consists of the 2022 Global Environmental Solutions Challenge and the Summit Forum on World Environment Day. Representatives from academia, business, international organizations and non-governmental organizations will be invited to deliver keynote speeches on the topics including the latest global initiatives and local policies on sustainable development, cutting-edge industrial technology solutions, and so on, in response to the mitigation of climate change, the protection of biodiversity and the prevention of environmental pollution.
