Sending ActiveFax Guidelines

Note: When sending fax to a telefax machine, it would be best if you call the receiving party first. Then inform the person at the other end of the line to press the Start button when the telefax machine keeps on ringing but nobody answers when the receiver is lifted.

  1. From your Windows application (MS-Word, MS-Excel, etc.), choose Print. Select ActiveFax from the list of printers provided, and then click OK.
  2. After clicking OK, the ActiveFax Printer Window
    • Type the Name of the recipient, the Fax Number of the recipient, and the E-Mail Address of the recipient (optional) on the Recipient side of the ActiveFax Printer Window.
    • Type your Name and your E-Mail Address(optional) on the Sender side of the ActiveFax Printer Window.
    • The default Fax Number on the Sender side of the ActiveFax Printer Window is the number for the Incoming Fax System (302-4232). You may add your local number so you can receive fax messages from your recipient.See the local numbers directory.

      If you have a fax machine, you can change the Fax Number on the Sender side of the ActiveFax Printer Window so that fax messages from your recipient will be sent to your fax machine instead of the Incoming Fax System.

    • Delete the current entries in the Cover Page textbox and in the Overlay
    • Click the Send Now
    • Click the OK


To check on the status of the fax message you sent,

  1. Click the ActiveFax Client button on the Windows toolbar (usually found at the bottom of the screen). If the number of the recipient’s fax is busy, ActiveFax will try to resend your fax message.

If your fax message was sent successfully, the Status will be marked as “Sent.” Please delete the fax message from the queue:

  • Using your mouse, click on your fax message
  • Press the Delete button on your keyboard.
  • Click the Recycle Bin which is found in the column on the left side of the window
  • Click your fax message
  • Press the Delete button on your keyboard.

If you see the Status as “Undeliverable”, please try to resend the fax message:

  • Double click on your fax message. A pop-up window appears.
  • Click the OK button on the pop-up window

Note: All fax messages with “Sent” or “Undeliverable” status will be automatically deleted from the server after seven (7) days.
