Faculty receives 2025 Severino and Paz Koh Lectureship Award for Engineering

DLSU Gokongwei College of Engineering Full Professor Dr. Michael Promentilla received the 2025 Severino and Paz Koh Lectureship Award for Engineering at the Philippine-American Academy of Science and Engineering (PAASE) Meeting and Symposium 2025 held at the University of South Carolina last July.
He was formally awarded during the 45th Annual PAASE Meeting and Symposium (APAMS), where he also delivered a lecture on “From Waste to Worth: Engineering Ways to Build the Circular Future.”
Promentilla was recognized for his contributions to the academic field, embodying the spirit of innovation, leadership, and service.
Meanwhile, an MS Environmental Engineering and Management student, Engr. Ma. Christine Jaucian, bagged 2nd place for the poster presentation with her research on “Layered Explainable AI (xAI) for Understanding Performance Drivers in Geopolymers.” Promentiila also served as Jaucian’s mentor and co-author.
Out of 22 submissions, Engr. Jaucian was part of the selected 10 for the Rapid Fire Competition to present their research to the online plenary.
A number of other GCOE students and professors were also present as speakers, moderators, and participants at the annual event that brought together Filipino-American researchers in the field of science and engineering.
