McRey is a Certified Public Accountant who has previous experience in auditing, accounting, and corporate finance. He then expanded his career in economics, doing international development consulting with ADB, UNDP, PS-Engage (Singapore), E. Co (UK), FPLA (Philippines), and local government units. Aside from teaching, research, and working on his Ph.D. thesis, McRey is tapped as a resource speaker in professional training programs and has been interviewed by local and international news agencies. He is also a certified rescue diver, a sports enthusiast, and an active military reservist.
