Dr. Robert Kerwin C. Billones works as a full professor in the Department of Manufacturing Engineering and Management at De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines. He is a research fellow at the Intelligent Systems Laboratory Research Unit of the Center for Engineering and Sustainable Development Research. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Electronics and Communications Engineering (2018) at De La Salle University Manila. He also received a postgraduate certificate program and fellowship for the Leaders in Innovation Fellowship (LIF) program (2019) at the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), London, United Kingdom, and the Asian Institute of Management, Makati, Philippines. He is a founding member of the Asia-Europe for Artificial Intelligence (AE4AI) Network by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) based in Singapore. He currently served as the Asia coordinator for AI Governance in AE4AI. He is a also a member of the DTI Bureau of Philippine Standards Technical Committee on Information Technology, Subcommittee on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technologies, BPS/TC 60/SC4. He is a co-founder of Intelligent Systems Innovation (ISI, Inc.), an AI startup company in the NVIDIA Inception program. He is a current member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society, and IEEE Computer Society Task Force on Biological, Artificial, and Hybrid Intelligence. He had published one hundred six (106) international scientific research articles (2014-present). He has worked on several research projects for the Department of Science and Technology Philippines (2016-present), and the National Research Council of the Philippines (2021-2022). His research works and interests include AI and data governance, applied AI, biomedical engineering, computer vision, cyber-physical systems, digital manufacturing, digital twins, optimization, and technology commercialization.
