Dr. Navea earned his B.S. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) from Mapua University in Intramuros, Manila. He went on to obtain his M.S. and PhD degrees in ECE from the De La Salle University in Manila. Currently, he holds the position of Full Professor in the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering at the Gokongwei College of Engineering, De La Salle University in Manila. In addition, he serves as the Assistant Dean for Research and External Affairs at the School of Innovation and Sustainability, De La Salle University – Laguna Campus.

He teaches major ECE and CpE courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research in the areas of digital signal processing related to acoustics, bioinformatics, biomedical devices, electronic and communication networks, power electronics, and internet of things, encompassing artificial and computational intelligence. He has presented at local and international conferences and has published papers in high-impact proceedings and technical journals. He is actively involved in various medical robotics research projects as a faculty researcher and leads externally funded projects focusing on Flywheel Energy Storage, Virtual Reality (VR) neurofeedback, and healthcare systems. Additionally, he leads the Neuro-Robotics Technology (NeuRoTech) Program and the Tulong Ugnayan ng Lingap At gabaY (TULAY) project at the Evelyn D. Ang – Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Health Technologies (EDA-IBEHT), which has been acknowledged by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as the Center of Research and Development in Medical Robotics in the Philippines.
