With graduate degrees specializing in coastal engineering, environmental science and technology, and undergraduate degree in civil engineering, and more than 25 years of academic experience in teaching and research and 3 years of construction industry experience, Dr. Mario De Jesus had collaborative engagements in local and international projects and research with academic institutions for academic, research and community extension works. Dr. De Jesus was also involved in an international Joint Research and Field Survey on Storm Surge (Typhoon Haiyan 2013) in collaboration with universities and institutes in Japan and Vietnam. Participated in research projects funded (Internal and External) by DLSU, JST, DOST, UKRI, ERASMUS, British Council. As a visiting scholar, Dr. De Jesus undertook physical and numerical modeling research work and established networking with international colleagues in the field of coastal engineering. Members of local (PICE) and international professional organizations (ASCE, COPRI). Recipient of certifications through intensive and advanced short course training and workshops. Attended and participated in local and international conferences and have published papers in journals and conference proceedings and a reviewer in a journal publication. Served as a member of the organizing committee and paper selection committee in local and international conferences. Taught civil engineering courses both in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Supervised senior high students, undergraduate and graduate civil engineering students in their research, thesis, and practicum.
