Dr. Allan N. Soriano is a Full professor at De La Salle University. He got his BS degree at Mapúa Institute of Technology (now Mapúa University), where he graduated as Cum Laude in 2000. He started his career as a faculty member of the School of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at Mapúa right after graduation. While teaching, he continued to study and applied for the School’s Dean’s Council Scholarship in Mapúa and finished his Master’s degree in 2004. In 2007, he pursued his doctorate degree at Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan and finished it in 2009. Dr. Soriano’s research interests covered the following: (1) carbon dioxide absorption using various absorbents (such as alkanolamines, ionic liquids, and deep eutectic solvents); measurement of properties (thermophysical, kinetics, and transport) and development of correlations (mathematical and theoretical models); (2) property measurement and correlation development of specialty chemicals; and (3) mathematical modeling of chemical and environmental engineering processes and statistical and thermodynamic analysis of industrial systems. To date, he had published sixty four (64) international (ISI/Scopus-indexed) journal articles, fifteen (15) local journal articles, and one (1) book chapter. His prolific works are not just about quantity but also quality as evident by several recognitions he received such as the Best Paper Award (1st and 4th places) in the 16th Regional Symposium of Chemical Engineers held in Manila last 2009 and the 2010 Prof. Yan-Ping Shi Research Paper Award given by the Institute of Chemical Engineers, Chinese Taipei (ICheCT). Dr. Soriano is also a recipient of various awards for his outstanding research outputs, including the National research Council of the Philippines Achievement Award in 2014, the Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award for Research and Development given by the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2012 and the Outstanding Young Scientist Award, given by the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines in 2011.
