ESPERANZA MARIBEL G. AGOO, PhD

Her main research interests are on the systematics, ecology, and conservation of Philippine plants such as orchids, cycads, Rafflesia, and vascular epiphytes. She is also interested in the floristics and ecology of forests over limestone and ultramafic soils and the canopy stratum of forests. Her collaborative research involves investigations on medicinal and other useful plants. She also has a special interest on historical botany. She is a member of the IUCN-Species Survival Commission Cycad and Orchid Specialist Groups and a Board Member of the Flora Malesiana Foundation. In the University, she teaches botany, systematics and biodiversity conservation. She also maintains the University Herbarium and started the plant DNA bank and seed bank at the DLSU Science and Technology Research Center. She is also involved in the development of the La Salle Botanical Gardens.
