Dr. Rito Baring is Full Professor of the Theology and Religious Education Department. He earned his MA and Doctoral degrees in Education major in Religious and Values Education in De La Salle University Manila in 1998 and 2006 respectively. He is the former Chair of the Theology and Religious Education Department now renamed Department of Theology and Religious Education. He also served as Graduate Programs Coordinator of the department for several years. He is previously involved in several research projects in the university on top of his academic commitments as faculty. He is the lead convenor of the Annual National Conference in Catechesis and Religious Education in DLSU from 2012 until the present (2022). Besides widely publishing in top-tiered Scopus-indexed journals since 2008, he has peer reviewed for top-tiered Scopus-indexed journals abroad several times a year. He was invited as part of the international editorial/ Advisory Board of the International Journal of Evangelization and Catechesis by the Catholic University of America, the Journal for the Study of Religion and Ideologies (Scopus-indexed) and the Journal of Empirical Theology (Scopus-indexed) . His research interests include: Empirical Theology, Religious Education, Youth Spirituality and youth studies and Assessment development. In addition to the Professorial Chair awarded to him from 2008 to 2020 by DLSU, he also received the Research Fellowship grant awarded by United Board through the IASACT program hosted by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also served local schools by helping their teachers through research skill building.
