Cleve V. Arguelles is a political scientist specializing in the study of democracy, populism, and Southeast Asia politics. He is PhD candidate in the Department of Political and Social Change at The Australian National University, Assistant Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Political Science and Development Studies at De La Salle University, and Fellow and Head of Research at WR Numero Research. His research have been published in journals Asian Politics & Policy, Democratic Theory, Philippine Journal of Health Research and Development, and Review of Women’s Studies. He earned the degrees BA Political Science from UP Manila and MA Political Science (with Distinction) from the Central European University where he was also awarded the Best Thesis prize. He currently holds an Australian Government Research Training Program fellowship to complete his PhD in International, Political, and Strategic Studies at the ANU Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs.
