Vijae O. Alquisola teaches Literature and Creative Writing at DLSU-Taft, Manila.  His research interests include Philippine oral literature, poetry and poetry for children, children’s literature, local studies, and cultural studies. His poems, poems for children, and research work have received recognition from the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature (2014 and 2016) and the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (2017) and were included in various journals and anthologies. In 2017, the local government of Sampaloc, Quezon awarded him as one of the “Natatanging Anak ng Sampaloc,” the highest distinction given to its citizens for his contributions to art and literature. The following year, he was awarded by the municipality of Mauban in Quezon with the “Gawad Dangal ni Gat Uban” or Natatatanging Anak ng Mauban for Poetry. He finished his PhD in Panitikan ng Pilipinas at the University of the Philippines-Diliman.  

In 2018, his debut poetry collection, Sa Mga Pansamantala (UST Publishing House, 2017), was a finalist in the following awards: Gintong Aklat Award, Madrigal-Gonzalez First Book Award in Filipino, and National Book Award. The same book earned him the DLSU St. Miguel Febres Cordero Research Award 2018. In 2019, the Sentro ng Wikang Filipino UP-Diliman published his second book, Awit ng Bakwit: Mga Tula Para sa Bata. Sa Tuwing Ikaw ay Tahimik, his third poetry collection, was published by the UP Press in 2022.
