
MILITANTE, CLARISSA V.
Clarissa V. Militante teaches Humanities Literature, Creative Writing, and Communication Arts (Writing) courses in De La Salle University, Taft. She is a part-time faculty member of the university’s Department of Communications and Department of Literature for more than two years now. Before La Salle, she also taught Filipino for a year in Miriam College. She finished her MFA in Creative Writing in DLSU (2014) and is currently completing my PhD in Literature. She has written two novels, Different Countries (long-listed in the 2009 Man Asia Literary prize & published by Anvil in 2010) and We Who Cannot be Daughters (published by UST Publishing House in 2014). Previously, she wrote for Philippine News and Features (1990s) and briefly worked with gmanews.tv as Special Features Editor (2004) of their online news platform. She continues to contribute articles for various news media (online and print). Her background also includes working with non-government organizations; the most recent ones, before becoming a faculty of DLSU, were Focus on the Global South (2009 until present in part-time capacity), Philippines Against Child Trafficking (2006), Philippines-China Development Resource Center (1999-2001).
