Marjorie Evasco-Pernia is Professor Emeritus of literature at De La Salle University and a University Fellow. Her research interests include creative writing art practices & pedagogies, ecofeminist studies, translation, and Visayan literary studies focusing on Central Visayas and Mindanao. Her essay on “Listening” has been published in the A-Z of Creative Writing Methods (Research in Creative Writing) by Bloomsbury in 2023. She has also translated from Binisayang Bol-anon into English the collection of short stories of Manuel Avenido, Ikigai: Selected Short Stories (Advaux Press, 2023). She is the author of five poetry collections, the latest of which is It Is Time To Come Home: New and Collected Poems (2023). She also writes biographies of women, among them A Life Shaped by Music: Andrea O. Veneracion & the Philippine Madrigal Singers (2001) and Ani: The Life and Art of Hermogena Borja Lungay, Boholano Painter (2006). She heads a community engagement and creative writing practice research project titled Dagat Bohol: Kinabuhi ug Panginabuhi (Reciprocal Learning and Collaborative Writing Workshop between Master Artisanal Fishers and Young Writers in Selected Coastal Towns of Bohol (2023-2025). She finished her PhD degree in Literature at De La Salle University, Manila, and her MA degree in English (Creative Writing) at Silliman University, Dumaguete City.
