David Jonathan Y. Bayot is an associate professor of literature and cultural studies at De La Salle University. His research interests include critical theory, the “literary” in cultural studies, theory “after theory,” and art studies. He is also the executive publisher of the university press, the DLSU Publishing House. He is the author or co-author or editor of thirty books, including Siya Nga! Reflections with Art by Jose Ramon T. Villarin, SJ, where he collaborated with a Jesuit priest-astrophysicist (as well as a President of Ateneo de Manila University) and contemporary Filipino visual artists, including National Artist Benedicto Cabrera, Betsy Westendorp, and Justin Nuyda (Sussex Academic Press, 202); the two-volume work, Circling the Canon: The Selected Book Reviews of Marjorie Perloff, 1969–2017 (U of New Mexico Press, 2019); Deconstruction After All by Christopher Norris (Sussex Academic Press, 2015) which was a Finalist for the National Book Award (Philippines); and Poetics in a New Key: Interviews and Essays by Marjorie Perloff (U of Chicago Press, 2014). The Critics in Conversation series of which he’s the general editor received a special citation from the Manila Critics Circle on the 34th National Book Awards ceremony in 2015. In this series, Bayot has dialogued with some of the most influential minds in the field of literary and cultural theory: Catherine Belsey, Jonathan Dollimore, Derek Attridge, Susan Stewart, Rachel Bowlby, John Schad, and Marjorie Perloff. He finished his PhD in Literature at De La Salle University.
