Ma. Florina Yamsuan Orillos-Juan earned her degrees in Ph.D. History, M.A. History at B.A. History (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is currently an Associate Professor at the History Department of De la Salle University Manila. In 2012, she won two awards: Young Historian’s Prize of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the National Book Development Trust Fund Grant of the National Book Development Board (NBDB). Among her research interests are: environmental history of the Philippines, Spanish Colonial Period, Culture during the Japanese Occupation, and general topics about history and geography. She authored several articles published in the following journals: Dalumat, Malay, European Journal of East Asian Studies, Philippine Social Science Review and Saliksik: Saysay ng Salaysay . She is a contributor and co-author of the books Hidden Lives, Concealed Narratives: A History of Leprosy in the Philippines (2016), Kaalaman at Pamamaraan sa Pagtuturo ng Kasaysayan (2008) and Kasaysayang Pampook: Pananaw, Pananaliksik, Pagtuturo (2012).
