Dr. Arleigh Ross Dela Cruz finished his Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of the Philippines Manila (Magna Cum Laude) in 2004. He took his Master of Arts in History degree at De La Salle University-Manila (with high Distinction) in 2006 and his Ph.D. degree in History at the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2012. He is a lifetime member of the Philippine Historical Association (PHA) and served as the PHA’s Vice-President in 2012. He is also a member of the Association for East Asian Environmental History (AEAEH). Dr. Dela Cruz was a Senior Lecturer at the University of the Philippines Manila from 2007 to 2010. In 2017 the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) recognized and awarded him the 2016 Young Historian’s Prize. Currently, he is an associate professor in the History Department at De La Salle University-Manila. His research interests include Veterinary History, Rural and Agricultural History, Human-Animal Interaction and Zoonotic diseases in Philippine History.
