International Youth Day – 12 August
“Celebrating Ways #YouthLead as Agents of Change for the Global Goals”
As part of this campaign, the UN Youth Envoy’s digital channels (social media, website, email) will be handed over to a different young person each day throughout the month of August, culminating in a first-of-its-kind month-long takeover, showcasing the myriad of intersectional ways that young people are contributing to the achievement of the SDGs around the world.
Here’s how you can engage:
- Submit youth-generated content as part of the takeover. Please submit content for consideration to be included in the takeover here.
- Join the photo filter campaign. In addition to the takeover, young people, youth advocates and allies can engage in the campaign through a virtual photo filter activation. Photos can be added directly via an editable template (available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) or the dedicated Instagram filter (which can also be accessed via the filters tab on the @UNYouthEnvoy profile).
- Spread the word on social media. A full communications toolkit for the campaign is available here. Assets are available in multiple languages and are editable for translation into further languages. Make sure to use #YouthDay and #YouthLead, and tag @UNYouthEnvoy in your posts.
- Take part in the flagship events. To celebrate International Youth Day, two additional events will be hosted as a complement to the takeover:
- The final “Torchbearers for the SDGs” consultation with young people on 11 August from 9-11 am EDT; registration is available here.
- A broadcast featuring our 17 Young Leaders for the SDGs, in collaboration with Peace One Day, on 12 August; streamed virtually across @UNYouthEnvoy channels.
