Educational Background
Josephine Borja is currently an Associate Professorial Lecturer of De La Salle University. She earned her BS Chemical Engineering from Adamson University and her MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from De La Salle University. Dr. Borja has almost 40 years of teaching in the tertiary level. She held various positions in the academe: ChE Department Chair (1983-1992, Adamson University), ChE Department Chair and Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence (2002-2004, Technological Institute of the Philippines). In De La Salle University, she was ChE Department Chair and Program Coordinator for AUN/SEED-Net Collaborative Research (2008-2011), Graduate Studies Coordinator for Chemical Engineering (2012-2013), and Director for Research and Advance Studies of the Gokongwei College of Engineering (2013-2014). She has been involved in various research projects in the area of hazardous waste treatment and production of bioethanol. Recently, she was the POPs Management Specialist for Pesticides in a UNIDO funded project for the updating of the Philippine National Implementation Plan for the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). Dr. Borja is also very active in the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE). She is one of the advisers of the Metro Manila Academe Chapter and is a member of PIChE College of Fellows.
