Ian Jayson R. Hecita is currently an Assistant Professorial Lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Development Studies of De La Salle University (DLSU). He teaches Citizenship and Governance, Introduction to Political Science, and Seminar Course in Local Governance. Mr. Hecita has twenty (20) years of track record of working with national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, Philippine and foreign universities, and international development institutions on research programs, capacity development projects, and community development initiatives. His research thrusts include local governance, open government, sustainable development, and institutional collective action. Mr. Hecita is also a Policy Research Specialist at the Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance (JRIG) of DLSU. He is the former Program Manager of the JRIG. Moreover, Mr. Hecita was Visiting Research Scholar at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. He is currently the Regional Coordinator for Southeast Asia of the Asia Democracy Research Network.
