SDRC to Co-Host Visit of Noted Professor of Finance
The DLSU College of Liberal Arts and the Social Development Research Center welcome a new visiting professor to the University, Dr. John C. Groth, Professor Emeritus of the Mays Business School of Texas A&M University. According to the website QFinance—The Ultimate Finance Resource, Dr. Groth serves as a consultant in the areas of corporate finance and management education, and conducts executive development programs. In addition to his work in finance, he researches and speaks on human capital and creativity and is a keynote speaker. He has been a Distinguished Fulbright Fellow in Austria, and in 2006 he was designated a Mays Faculty Fellow in Teaching Innovation.
The Mays Business School website reveals that Dr. Groth received his Ph.D. from the Krannert School, Purdue University, and he also holds degrees in physics and in industrial administration. His teaching awards include the Association of Former Students “Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching,” the Association of Former Students “Distinguished Teaching Award, College of Business,” and twice, the College of Business “Outstanding Teaching Award.” He has authored numerous publications and has been cited as a major contributor to finance literature.
The MBS website further notes that Dr. Groth served as a line officer in active and reserve status in the U.S. Navy. He was commanding officer of: Naval Reserve Special Warfare Engineering Support Unit; COOP Technical Development Unit; a Naval Reserve Research Unit. He also was chief engineer and department head on a destroyer. He retired with the rank of captain.
Dr. Groth’s stay at the University will be from March 18 to April 4, 2014.
