Question #3: How do I refer?
- Talk directly to the student in confidence, straightforward, matter-of-fact fashion showing simple and concrete concern about the need to seek professional help.
- Listen to the student’s situation.
- Suggest that he or she may consider availing of the counseling services provided by OCCS Counselors for free. Make it clear that this referral represents your best judgment based on your observation of the student’s behavior.
- Respect the student being referred.
- If the student agrees to the referral, you may inform OCCS regarding your referral either by phone, email, or personal visit.

STC OFFICE: w402, Milagros Del Rosario Building from Mondays to Fridays 8:00 am – 12:00 noon; 1:30 – 5:00 pm and on Saturday 8:00 am – 12:00 noon. A Referral Form(pdf/179kb) is downloadable online. - Ask the student to schedule an appointment with the Counselor.
- In case of emergency, you may immediately accompany the student to OCCS. Otherwise, you may inform the student that he or she can meet with the Counselor during the regular working hours.
