Engr. Charles Julius S. Oliquino
Assistant Professorial Lecturer
Educational Background
Master of Science in Civil Engineering Major in Geotechnical Engineering
De La Salle University
CJ holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering from the Technological Institute of the Philippines-Manila, and an MS degree in Civil Engineering major in Geotechnical Engineering from the De La Salle University – both universities recognised internationally by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). He ranked 4th place in the Licensure Exam for Civil Engineers in the Philippines. After acing the board exam, he spent the next 2 years as a review instructor where he helped more than a thousand civil engineers obtain their professional licenses. Shortly after, he spent the next 2 years in the engineering research program of the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology where he also obtained his master’s degree.
CJ has 5 years of experience which includes his research on seismic hazard analysis – both deterministic and probabilistic – and liquefaction potential. CJ also has experience in slope stability analysis of land development projects in mountainous areas, seismic displacements, design of mechanically stabilised Earth (MSE) Walls, design of slope protection measures, ground improvement techniques, liquefaction assessment, seepage analysis, shallow and deep foundations, and deep excavation in soft clays. He also has experience in dredging and reclamation projects which includes geotechnical investigation and interpretation of the project site and borrow area, stability analysis of the reclamation edge and borrow area, the behaviour of marine soft clay, material specification and quantification, and corresponding ground improvement.
