Life Cycle Assessment of Algal Biofuels in the Philippines
Funded by the USAID STRIDE Philippine-U.S. Research and Exchange (PURE) Grant, this project focused on assessing the viability of producing algae biodiesel in the Philippines. It assessed the environmental implications of algae biodiesel production utilizing locally available algae cultivation systems. The project included partnerships between De La Salle University, University of the Philippines – Visayas, and the University of Arizona. This project was headed by the Bioenergy Research Group of De La Salle University.
Process Streamlining of the Algae Industry in the Philippines
Funded by the USAID STRIDE Collaboration with Industry (CARWIN) Grant, this project focuses on improving the bottleneck production process of the algae industry in the Philippines. This project is a continuation of the previous project “Life Cycle Assessment of Algal Biofuels in the Philippines”. The project focuses on improving the drying and cultivation process, which can help in the inclusive economic growth of the Philippines. Academic universities in this project includes De La Salle University, University of the Philippines – Visayas, and the University of Arizona. With them are the industry partners, which includes Aztec Foodgrowers Inc. and the MCPI Coporation. This project is headed by the Bioenergy Research Group of De La Salle University. (In Progress)
