Professor Castillo has been a faculty of the De La Salle University School of Economics since 1998. She earned her undergraduate degree, BS Economics, from the University of the Philippines and Masters degree in Economics from the California State University Long Beach.

At present, she has been requested to mostly handle foundation in economics courses (i.e., COBECON and FDNECON)–with a section or two of Operations Research (OPSERCH) and Contemporary National Development (CONADEV) now and again. She has been asked to chair/co-chair the COBECON/COBMECO PLC in the recent past. In addition, she serves as interim administrator (i.e., Vice Chair and Associate Dean) whenever her knowledge, skills, and experience are deemed necessary.

Professor Castillo has been a World Vision Development Foundation sponsor for about 15 years.

Research Interest

Ms. Castillo has written a number of papers that reviewed the economic, political, social factors that influence the development of Philippine industries. With the increasing role of the internet in everyday life (i.e., education, e-commerce local and cross-border trade, etc.), however, she would like to contribute to the body of studies that proposes initiatives, programs, policies, and so on that would guarantee a more inclusive digital economy.
