Research programme workshop (RPW) lecture series

The importance of public-private partnership in education to address job mismatch: addressing skills mismatch and labor market demand

This RPW aims to do an in depth investigation at the outcomes of the DTS Act after almost 20 years of implementation. Specifically, it will look at how effective the Act is in bridging the job mismatch in the Philippines through a series of seminars and workshops.

In 1994, President Fidel V Ramos signed into law the Dual Training System (DTS) Act of 1994 that mandates the institutionalization of the DTS that recognizes the importance of school-industry partnership in determining program success and effectiveness.  This Act allows accredited public and private educational institutions, training centers and agricultural, industrial and business establishments to come up with the best possible way for students to learn knowledge and skills that will eventually translate to employment.
