Personal Folders in the DLSU Network
Network folders provide faculty and students their own personal location within the DLSU network to access their files. The following are prerequisites to accessing your personal folder in the DLSU network:
- An active My.LaSalle (MLS) account
- A PC or laptop connected to the DLSU NetworkTo check if your PC or laptop is already connected to the domain, go to Start and click Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, double click System. The System window will be displayed. The domain name should say manila.dlsu.edu.ph.
Important reminders:
- For security purposes, it is strongly recommended that you log off your computer after use.
- The maximum storage size of a personal network folder is 50MB for faculty, and 4MB for students.
- Please remember that the server is a shared University resource. Use this facility prudently.

I. If your laptop or computer is already connected to or a member of the domain
A. Log on to the domain
For MS Windows Vista and MS Windows 7 OS
- Once your computer is on, you will be prompted to log on to Windows.
- Type your MLS User ID in the Username field.
ex. delacruzj, cruz_a, 11012345 - Type your MLS password in the Password field
- Press the Enter key or click OK.
For MS Windows XP OS
- Once your computer is on, you will be prompted to log on to Windows.
- Type your MLS User ID in the Username field.
ex. delacruzj, cruz_a, 11012345 - Type your MLS password in the Password field
- Click the Options button.
- On the Log on to field, click the drop down arrow and select MANILA.
- Press the Enter key or click OK.
B. Access your personal network folder
- Go to Start and click Run.
- In the Run window, type the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path in the Open field as shown below.
User Classification UNC Path Student \\myfiles.local\students$\<college>\<collegebatch>\<IDnumber> Faculty \\myfiles.local\faculty$\<department>\<username> For students:
college = CBE (for SOE and COB), CCS, CED, CLA, COE, COS, GSB, SIGS
collegebatch = (college + 3-digit for batch year)
ex. COS104 for batch 2004, COE110 for batch 2010
IDnumber = (your student ID number)For faculty:
department = Admin, CBE, CCS, CED, CLA, COE, COS, GSB, ITC, OFFICE, OTHERS
user name = (your MLS User ID)
ex. delacruzj, cruz_a
II. If your laptop or computer is not yet connected to or a member of the domain

- Go to Start and click Run.
- In the Run window, type the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path in the Open field as shown below.

- Go to Start and click Run.
- Click OK. A window that says Connect to myfiles.local will be displayed.
- Type manila\<username> in the User name field. Your username is your MLS User ID.
ex. delacruzj, cruz_a - Type your MLS password in the Password field
- Click OK. A window showing your personal network folder will now appear, through which you may save and access your files. Your default network drive is Z:\.
