Maribel completed her PhD from the School of Economics (with one-year coursework) at the University of Sydney in Australia. She is particularly interested in inclusive economic development, policy design and delivery, policy impact evaluation, and the reduction of inequalities. Her current research is on development policies (public and private sector), social impact initiatives, business and entrepreneurship, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing economies, especially in fragile situations.
As a researcher, she has more than a decade of experience and has worked and collaborated with international organizations such as ADB, AIIB, UNESCO, and ERIA. She formerly worked as Senior Researcher at Asian Institute of Management where she managed the survey for small and medium enterprises and in writing research on SME competitiveness, private sector policies, and gender.
