
Maria Francesca Tomaliwan
Assistant Professorial Lecturer
Ms. Maria Francesca Tomaliwan is an Assistant Professorial Lecturer at De La Salle University’s School of Economics. She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at DLSU under the guidance of Dr. Mariel Monica Sauler. From 2022 until mid-2023, she held a Junior Non-Key Expert position at the ASEAN Secretariat. Ms. Tomaliwan’s research is in finance and labor economics, with a focus on wage distribution. Her current dissertation, entitled “Essays on Philippine Wage Distribution,” received funding from the Philippine APEC Study Center Network (PASCN). Her past work on labor includes the 1st ASEAN Employment Outlook which aimed to understand the implication of the gig economy (crowdwork and on-demand) on the labor market in the region.
